As all not for profit organizations, we are always looking for volunteers to help!  This is also a great way for students to earn some community service hours!!

The Club is always looking for help at the shows (setting up courses, jumps, etc.) If you are interested, please contact us and let us know.

The Dwyer Hill Riding Club, founded in 1995, is an entry-level non-profit organization that promotes good horsemanship and provides mentorship to new and upcoming riders. Horse owners and enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in various equine disciplines in a fun yet safe environment. The Club is managed predominantly by volunteers; however, show expenses are offset through funding from Club members as well from support of local businesses and citizens. We welcome spectators to cheer on riders who range from 4+ years of age to several of our mature members. The shows are all held at the Richmond Fairgrounds (same location as the Richmond Fair). 2024 we are celebrating 29 successful years of horse showing and horse/rider development!

I am honored to have been elected as the 2024 DHRC president and am super excited for the upcoming show season.

Just a little about me....I have been involved with horses since I could walk, and now breed and raise AQHA/APHA halter horses. I have just recently started sorting on a little cow horse and am absolutely loving it!  I was involved with the Ontario Quarter Horse Association for a number of years and helped out in all aspects of the association.  I  was fortunate to have served as president of that association for 3 consecutive years and feel my experiences being on the executive of a large breed association will be beneficial in continuing the Dwyer Hill Riding Club mission.  I have a passion for our grass roots equine community, the horse enthusiasts that are out there looking to show and learn in an environment that is welcoming, no matter your level of experience. We all love our horses and it should be rewarding and fun when we get to spend time with like minded individuals.   I look forward to working with the 2024 executive. I can assure you this new team is "all hands on deck" and our mission is to offer fun, welcoming, competitive and affordable events for all.
We understand it has been challenging to get the numbers at the shows as of recent, but we are committed to offer great shows for children, novice exhibitors, and seasoned riders - EVERYONE is welcome!

New for 2024:
* We will ONLY be offering the WESTERN division this year (No English division as in the past)
* There will be 3 shows instead of 4 (Richmond Fairgrounds)
Sunday June 16th (bring dad for fathers day fun classes)
                              Sunday July 21th
                              Sunday August 11th

We really want to be there for our exhibitors and will be offering assistance at the show. If you need help or just have questions or want to try a new class but aren't sure - we will help you. There will be a number of seasoned exhibitors that will be at the show just to help and answer questions. You are not alone and please don't be shy to ask questions or try new classes.

Remember, we welcome everyone at our shows - No matter your experience, you are welcomed to DHRC.
- If you are just wanting to get your feet wet and try showing, we got you covered.
- If you show at the breed shows and want to come out and get more miles on your horses, come on out!
- If your children have a pony or horse that they want to come out and do some fun games on horseback, bring them along!

Horse showing should be fun, and should be a place to meet old friends make new ones, and we want to be part of it all.

Happy Trails!
Shawna
